Accessibility (a11y) Training & Advocacy

Documentation, Education, & Mentorship

Accessibility (a11y) can be daunting for any newcomers and it’s so important and essential that web products are usable and useful to everyone. I’ve shifting my role to include leadership and mentorship in all-thing-a11y for designers, working closely with frontend to understand how we can “shift left” to design for a11y, rather than “apply a11y” later.

Accessibility in HDS Core

It was important for us to make sure that Accessibility is highlighted as a key foundation of the system (and our company-wide UX process).

The Haven Design System (HDS) library houses a page dedicated to a11y that covers the basics, why we care, links out to introductory slide decks, and tips to improve designs (in a WIP state).
